Neeraj Chopra Prepares for Exciting Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025
Indian javelin star and double Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra is set to participate in the 2025 Janusz Kusociński Memorial athletics meet in Poland on May 23, as reported by Olympics.com. Originally, Chopra was scheduled to compete in the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on May 24; however, the event’s postponement has allowed him to join the 71st edition of the Janusz Kusociński Memorial, a prestigious Silver-level event in the World Athletics Continental Tour.
The Chorzów meet, which began in 1954, is one of the longest-running athletics events in Poland and Europe. Chopra will face a formidable field in this competition, including top competitors like Anderson Peters from Grenada, the bronze medalist from the Paris 2024 Olympics and a two-time world champion, along with Julian Weber from Germany, a former European gold medalist. Several elite Polish athletes are also expected to participate.
This event marks Chopra’s third competition of the year. The 27-year-old athlete kicked off his season at the Potch Invitational in Potchefstroom, South Africa, leading the field with a throw of 84.52 meters. His next event is the Doha Diamond League on May 16, where he will be joined by fellow Indian thrower and Asian Games silver medalist Kishore Jena. Additionally, Neeraj is slated to compete in the Ostrava Golden Spike event in Czechia on June 24.
