Fragmented Opinions Impeding Naga Issue Resolution, Warns Naga Hoho
Dimapur: The Naga Hoho stated on Wednesday that fragmented opinions are obstructing progress in the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations. These perspectives, according to the Hoho, are “state-centric” and reflect “regional interests.”
In its statement, the Hoho reiterated its call for unity and introspection among various Naga organizations. It attributed the delay in resolving the Indo-Naga political issue to factors known only to the negotiating parties. The organization highlighted its long-standing efforts to promote unity and foster reconciliation among Naga groups, recognizing the contributions of past leaders in strengthening dialogue.
The Hoho expressed frustration over the prolonged delays, noting, “We have no reason to blame others but ourselves.” It urged the Naga people to accept responsibility for the “destruction of the fabric of the Indo-Naga political talks,” emphasizing that the adversaries benefit from the Naga community’s internal divisions.
Addressing the matter of “tribal dissociation,” particularly from Nagaland, the Hoho acknowledged these departures. It affirmed that its legitimacy remains intact due to representation from Manipur, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, along with ongoing support from within Nagaland.
The Hoho called upon all Naga leaders in Nagaland to collaborate in seeking resolutions to the Naga political problem based on “contemporary realities.” It stressed the need for selfless efforts towards establishing peace and unity among Nagas, regardless of their geographical areas.
Asserting its commitment to fostering reconciliation among Naga political groups, the Hoho emphasized the urgency to end fratricidal conflicts and work together to resolve outstanding issues through joint initiatives.
