
Arms Traffickers and Militants Arrested Amid Rising Violence in Manipur
Security forces in Manipur have apprehended 12 militants affiliated with banned organizations, as reported by police on Wednesday. The arrests occurred on Tuesday across various districts, highlighting ongoing security operations in the region.
Among those detained were four members of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), alongside two individuals from the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and one from Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup. These arrests took place near Yongkhul village in the Tengnoupal district, according to a police officer. Additionally, two members of the outlawed KCP (PWG) were captured in Lilong Nungei and Wangbal within Thoubal district, while two cadres from another group, PREPAK, were taken into custody near the Koirengei Kabui Khul Gate in Imphal East.
In a related operation, security forces also arrested three arms dealers on the same day. Among them was an active cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (Pambei group), who was apprehended in Puhkhao Ahallup Makha Leikai, also in Imphal East. Officers reported recovering a rifle and ammunition from the individuals involved.
This significant operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb militant activities in Manipur, ensuring public safety and stability in the region.
