Miss World Contestants Celebrate Buddha Purnima at Telangana’s Buddhavanam
The contestants of the 72nd Miss World pageant visited the iconic Budhavanam at Nagarjuna Sagar yesterday, coinciding with Budha Purnima. This visit included representatives from the Asian and Oceanic regions and was organized to spotlight Telangana’s rich history and diverse cultural heritage. The initiative aimed to forge a deeper connection between the contestants and the region’s spiritual and historical legacy.
Buddhavanam, part of an integrated Buddhist Circuit, is designed to exemplify the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha. During their visit, contestants explored several key areas within the site. They walked through the Buddhacharitha Vanam, which illustrates significant moments from Buddha’s life, and Jataka Park, where stories from Buddha’s past exist. They also visited Dhyana Vanam, intended for meditation practices, and Stupa Vanam, home to the impressive Maha Stupa. Their experience culminated with a trip to the Buddhist Heritage Museum, further enriching their understanding of the area’s cultural significance.
