Minister Assures Food Security: ‘Our Agricultural Reserves Are Full’ Amidst Rising Tensions with Pakistan
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan reassured the nation on Friday that food reserves are robust, despite rising tensions along the Pakistan border following Operation Sindoor. “Our agricultural reserves are full. We have ample quantities of wheat, rice, and other grains,” Chauhan emphasized. He noted that while soldiers are stationed at the border, farmers are actively working in their fields.
The Minister unveiled a new initiative aimed at boosting Kharif crop production, reinforcing the government’s dedication to food security. These statements come amid increased military activity in the wake of Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan in response to the deadly attack in Pahalgam that claimed innocent civilian lives.
“In Pahalgam, terrorists killed innocent civilians, with husbands being slain before their wives in the name of religion,” Chauhan remarked. “We have targeted the hotspots of terror, ensuring we do not harm civilians.”
The Indian Army successfully thwarted multiple drone attacks from Pakistan along the western border overnight. The Border Security Force (BSF) also foiled an infiltration attempt in Samba district, while two Pakistani drones were downed in the Naushera sector.
On the healthcare front, Health Minister JP Nadda conducted an urgent review of nationwide medical facilities, ensuring all hospitals are prepared and operational amidst the escalating conflict. Senior health officials briefed him on monitoring mechanisms and emergency readiness across medical institutions.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a pivotal security review at South Block with military leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the heads of the armed services.
In light of recent explosions near the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts, a blackout was imposed in Jammu as a precautionary measure. The Army issued a statement confirming that the Pakistan Armed Forces had launched a series of drone and munitions attacks along the western border. “The drone attacks were effectively repulsed, and we provided a strong response to the violations of the ceasefire. The Indian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
