Militants Busted: Manipur Security Forces Neutralize 12 Insurgents in Cracking Down on Terror
Indian Security Forces Net 12 Militants in Series of Raids across Manipur
A series of coordinated operations by security forces in Manipur have led to the arrest of 12 militants affiliated with various proscribed groups. The successful operations, carried out on March 10 and 11, resulted in the seizure of a range of weapons and electronic devices, as well as cash and other valuables.
On March 11, a joint operation by the security personnel and the 5/9 GR resulted in the arrest of seven active members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) from a farm house and temporary camp in Tera Urak, Imphal West district. The arrested individuals, identified as Pebam Bishorjit Singh, Keisham Bishorjit Singh, Warepam Premananda Singh, Yambem Shital Singh, WM Arif Khan, Wahengbam Momocha Meitei, and Loitongbam Hemba Singh, were found in possession of pistols, magazine-loaded ammunition, SLR and AK Rifles, BAOFENG handheld sets, mobile phones, side bags, wallets, receipt books, and tax challans of the KCP (PWG). Additionally, they were found to be in possession of Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and a four-wheeler.
In another operation, also on March 11, two KCP (PWG) cadres, Khongbamtabam Nanao Meitei and Kshetrimayum Roshan Singh, were arrested from Khurai Chingangbam Leikai near DDK Imphal Gate in Imphal East district. They were found to be in possession of mobile phones and wallets.
The same day, the police and 5/9 GR also arrested one active member of the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), identified as Konjengbam Ibotomcha Meitei, from the foothills of Sanjembam Khullen Village near the waiting shed in Imphal East district. He was found to be involved in extortion activities and was in possession of 45 AK rifle ammunitions, a mobile phone, and a wallet.
On March 10, security forces arrested one cadre of the KCP (Taibanganba) group, Maibam Virendrakumar Singh, from Wabagai Makha Leikai Heibongmakhong in Kakching district. He was arrested for his involvement in extortion from the general public in Kakching and Thoubal districts. A mobile handset was seized from his possession.
In a separate operation, one cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK Pro), identified as Laishram Tomba, was arrested from Wangoo Chairel Leingangtabi area in Bishnupur district. He was found to be involved in extortion from the general public in Kakching and Bishnupur districts, and was in possession of cash worth Rs 1,000 and a mobile phone.
These successful operations demonstrate the concerted efforts of the security forces in Manipur to root out militancy and bring perpetrators to justice. The seizures made during these operations will serve as a significant blow to the activities of these outlawed groups.
