Noah Centineo Triumphantly Balances ‘The Recruit’ and ‘XO, Kitty’: A Heartfelt Behind-the-Scenes Look

Noah Centineo’s dedication to his diverse roles shone through last year when his Netflix series, The Recruit, filmed in Korea, coincidentally alongside XO, Kitty, for which he made a serendipitous guest appearance. This comedy spinoff of the popular To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before films, where Centineo played the beloved Peter Kavinsky, stars Anna Cathcart as Kitty, Lara Jean’s matchmaking younger sibling.

Centineo’s appearance in XO, Kitty’s second season wasn’t just a simple cameo, however. It elegantly symbolized a full-circle moment, reportedly sparked by a call from All The Boys producer, Matt Kaplan. “It was serendipitous timing,” Centineo explained to Deadline. Although hesitant initially due to the monumental expectation of reprising his role as Peter, Noah agreed out of fondness for Anna Cathcart, praising her as a talented professional who “deserves the world.”

The logistics of this cameo presented significant challenges for XO, Kitty’s showrunner, Jessica O’Toole. Centineo’s tight schedule meant his scenes had to be filmed on the series’ first production day though they appeared in a later episode. Quick adjustments and preemptive direction facilitated this, and O’Toole remarked that Centineo’s warm presence set an upbeat tone for the season’s onset.

His adept transformation from Owen, his character in The Recruit, back to the college-student charm of Peter was seamless. Centineo credits the hair stylists from both productions for perfecting the switch. Reflecting on the shoot, he shared, “It was a lovely, positive day.”

With XO, Kitty’s second season now available for streaming, audiences can enjoy Centineo’s heartwarming return, while his other project, The Recruit, will debut its second season on January 30. This dual narrative showcases Centineo’s impressive range and enduring appeal in modern entertainment.
