Historic Celebration: Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma Proudly Unfurls National Flag in Dhaka
The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The event witnessed a large turnout from the Indian community, who participated in the festivities held at the Chancery building. The celebration commenced with the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, unfurling the national flag. He also read excerpts from the President’s address delivered on the eve of Republic Day.
The High Commissioner extended his greetings to the Indian community, further enhancing the patriotic ambiance with performances of patriotic songs by community members in Dhaka. Similar celebrations were held at the Assistant High Commissions of India in Sylhet, Khulna, Chattogram, and Rajshahi, ensuring the spirit of the Republic Day resonated across Bangladesh.
In addition to the festivities at the High Commission, a grand reception was organized at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka. This prestigious event marked India’s 76th Republic Day milestone and saw Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, the Planning and Education Adviser of Bangladesh’s Interim Government, as the chief guest.
The reception drew enthusiastic participation from members of the diplomatic community, political parties, civil society, academia, the Indian diaspora, business circles, government officers, and media representatives. Such diverse participation underscored the importance of the celebration in fostering diplomatic relations and strengthening ties between India and Bangladesh.
The occasion served not only as a commemoration of India’s democratic journey but also as an opportunity to reinforce the bonds between the two neighboring countries, highlighting cooperation across various sectors.
