Celebrating St. Louis Pride: A Comprehensive Guide to Our 11 Grammy-Nominated Hometown Heroes
Seven St. Louis and Metro East natives are taking the spotlight as nominees at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, to be held on February 2. Among these talents is stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser, who snagged her first nomination for Best Comedy Album with her stand-up special “Someday You’ll Die.” Known for her humor and honesty, Glaser, a Kirkwood High alum, stands alongside comedy giants like Trevor Noah and Dave Chappelle in her category.
Metro Boomin, a super producer with electrifying beats, is nominated in four categories, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for his work on “Like That” with Future. His contributions could lead to a clean sweep of the hip-hop categories, marking a significant moment in his career.
Opera singer Julia Bullock, celebrated for her soulful performances, earns a nomination for Best Opera Recording. The John Burroughs High alum has already tasted Grammy success with her previous win for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album in 2024.
Jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold, a McCluer High graduate, is nominated for Best Alternative Jazz Album with “Foreverland,” a dynamic fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and R&B.
Other notable nominees include gospel artist Lloyd Nicks, competing for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song, and Marcus Baylor of the Baylor Project, whose acapella-inspired song “Walk With Me, Lord (SOUND — SPIRIT)” garners them their eighth Grammy nomination.
While these nominees celebrate their recognition, St. Louis artists J-Kwon and Mark “Tarboy” Williams, involved in the hit song “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” unfortunately won’t be collecting trophies due to eligibility issues, though they remain acknowledged with certificates if the song wins.
This remarkable representation at the Grammys highlights St. Louis’ enduring impact on the music industry. The ceremony will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. on CBS and Paramount+.
