Triumphant Progress: Army Chief Celebrates Improving Security in Manipur and Strengthened Surveillance on Indo-Myanmar Border

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has reported gradual improvements in the Northeast region’s security situation. Addressing the challenges in Manipur, General Dwivedi credited the collaborative efforts of security forces and proactive measures by the government for bringing the situation under control, despite the persistence of cyclical violence. He emphasized ongoing efforts to establish peace, highlighting the involvement of NGOs and Army veterans in engaging with community leaders to promote reconciliation.

Concerning the Indo-Myanmar border, the Army Chief assured that enhanced surveillance and control measures are in place to prevent Myanmar’s internal turmoil from affecting India. These strategic actions are aimed at shielding the region from external destabilizing influences.

General Dwivedi also touched on the topic of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, reaffirming the Army’s dedication to enhancing its response capabilities. Drawing from lessons learned in 2024, the Army has allocated Rs 17 crores specifically for upgrading its Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and Quick Response medical teams, signaling its preparedness to address emergencies effectively.

The Indian Army’s initiatives in the Northeast reflect a dual strategy focused on maintaining security while extending humanitarian support, ultimately aiming to ensure stability and development amid a challenging environment.
