Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik has called upon the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to work closely with local communities and law enforcement to advance the development of border regions through the Vibrant Border Village programme. During a meeting at Raj Bhavan with Amitabh Gupta, the newly appointed Inspector General of North East Frontier Headquarters, the governor highlighted the dual benefits of boosting national security and enhancing the welfare of local populations.
Emphasizing his extensive experience in border management, Governor Parnaik underscored the importance of engaging local communities as active participants in these initiatives. He stressed the need for ongoing training, strategic drills, and efficient patrolling to ensure robust border security. Moreover, he commended the ITBP’s pivotal role in the region and encouraged the agency to recruit local youth into the armed forces. This move, he noted, would not only empower local communities but also strengthen national security defenses.
