Urgent Call to Action: Arunachal Governor Inspires ITBP to Transform Border Areas
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik has called upon the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to work closely with local communities and law enforcement to advance the development of border regions through the Vibrant Border Village programme. During a meeting at Raj Bhavan with Amitabh Gupta, the newly appointed Inspector General of North East Frontier Headquarters, the governor highlighted the dual benefits of boosting national security and enhancing the welfare of local populations.
Emphasizing his extensive experience in border management, Governor Parnaik underscored the importance of engaging local communities as active participants in these initiatives. He stressed the need for ongoing training, strategic drills, and efficient patrolling to ensure robust border security. Moreover, he commended the ITBP’s pivotal role in the region and encouraged the agency to recruit local youth into the armed forces. This move, he noted, would not only empower local communities but also strengthen national security defenses.
In addition to development and security, the governor urged the ITBP to be vigilant in providing timely humanitarian assistance during emergencies in the border areas. His call resonated with the necessity of holistic development strategies that address immediate needs while preparing for future challenges.
Amitabh Gupta assured the governor that the issues brought to the table would be promptly addressed. The meeting, which covered topics from border security to state development initiatives, underscores a collaborative effort towards the comprehensive growth of Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions. Furthermore, the discussions align with broader state goals, as evident from related developments like Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s recent review of progress in West Siang and the inauguration of a city surveillance project.
The collaborative initiatives reflect a strategic vision aimed at fostering security and prosperity in one of India’s most sensitive and strategically important regions.
