Masterstroke Unveiled: BJP’s Bold Strategy for Gaon Panchayat Elections in Assam
Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened its inaugural strategy meeting on Thursday in preparation for the forthcoming Gaon Panchayat elections in Assam. The session was led by BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita and witnessed the participation of party workers and representatives from the Dibrugarh, Jorhat, and Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituencies.
Kalita stressed the critical nature of the upcoming elections for the party, highlighting development as the central focus. He remarked, “This is a grassroots election, and it is very important for us.” The meeting also underscored the significance of the elections underlined by state BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta, with district presidents from eight upper Assam districts discussing strategic plans and a comprehensive roadmap.
Prominent BJP figures, including Assam Pradesh BJP Prabhari Harish Dwivedi, Lakhimpur MP Pradhan Baruah, State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, Power Minister Prasanta Phukan, along with various MLAs and party members, joined the discussions.
The elections will determine leadership for 397 Zilla Parishad Constituencies, 181 Anchalik Panchayats, 2,193 Gaon Panchayats, and 21,930 wards across 27 districts, excluding areas under the Sixth Schedule and municipal zones. The Assam State Election Commission has issued draft electoral rolls, accounting for 17,554,589 voters at 23,781 polling stations, aligned with the 2024 delimitation of constituencies.
These Panchayat elections are pivotal for the BJP, aiming to reinforce its grassroots presence and development agenda in Assam amidst a keen statewide political milieu.
