Revolutionary Centralised Pension System Transforms Lives for 68 Lakh Pensioners with EPFO Initiative
GUWAHATI: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has unveiled a game-changing Centralised Pension Payments System (CPPS), set to streamline pension disbursement across its regional offices nationwide. This significant update is projected to enhance pension access for more than 68 lakh retirees in India, promoting both efficiency and convenience.
The CPPS marks a departure from the previous decentralised model, where regional EPFO offices formed individual partnerships with a restricted number of banks for pension payments. Now, with the unified system in place, pensioners can receive their pensions from any bank or branch across the country, significantly boosting flexibility and accessibility.
One of the standout features of the CPPS is its removal of the need for physical verification visits at the commencement of pensions. Pension amounts will be directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts shortly after release, removing the burdensome manual procedures that often encumbered retirees, especially senior citizens.
Commencing in January 2025, the CPPS will ensure uninterrupted pension disbursement irrespective of a pensioner’s location. This new approach eradicates the need for transferring pension payment orders (PPOs) between offices when pensioners relocate or switch banks. Such an improvement is particularly advantageous for retirees moving back to their hometowns or other destinations after retirement, ensuring seamless and timely access to their pensions without any administrative hitches.
With this transformation, EPFO not only modernizes its operations but also reaffirms its commitment to serving the pensioner community with greater effectiveness and care. The shift to CPPS underlines a significant leap toward digital enhancement, promising a hassle-free pension retrieval experience for millions across India.
