Empowering Tripura’s Future: CM’s Passionate Call for Progress and Rebuke of Congress’s Exploitation of Dr. Ambedkar’s Legacy
Engaging Coverage of the North Eastern Council Plenary Session Benefits Tripura
Agartala, 25th December 2024: Tripura’s Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, highlighted the positive outcomes of the recent North Eastern Council (NEC) Plenary Session, emphasizing that such gatherings are catalysts for development in the region. During a press conference, Dr. Saha discussed the session’s impacts, noting improved awareness of Tripura among dignitaries, including its assets like bamboo, agarwood, infrastructure, and tourism.
Chief Ministers and Governors from Northeast India participated in the 72nd session, enhancing inter-state cooperation and understanding. Additionally, significant initiatives like NESAC meetings and the Bankers’ Summit brought nationwide attention to the state, with over Rs 800 crore earmarked for Bru resettlement projects. Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit underscored the importance of these development efforts.
The session also covered critical issues such as law and order and concerns regarding Bangladesh’s current situation. Dr. Saha shared updates on border security and personnel requirements, underscoring continued dialogue for enhanced regional coordination. Efforts to establish a drug-free Northeast were emphasized, alongside development aspirations presented by Northeast leaders. Dr. Saha urged opposition parties to commend the state’s role in hosting such vital conferences.
Additionally, Dr. Saha criticized Congress for allegedly exploiting Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s legacy to undermine the BJP. He accused Congress of historical disrespect toward Ambedkar, citing their failure to honor him with national accolades during their governance. Dr. Saha demanded an apology from Congress, contrasting BJP’s appreciation for national contributors with Congress’s alleged family-focused politics.
In summary, the NEC Plenary Session served as a pivotal platform for advancing Tripura’s and the Northeast’s development, while also igniting political discourse over historical recognition and party politics.
