Empowering Assam: Barpeta Hosts Transformative Good Governance Week 2024 Workshop – Exclusive Northeast News
Barpeta, Assam: As part of Good Governance Week 2024 celebrations, a District-Level Dissemination Workshop was convened in Barpeta on Monday. Chaired by Thaneswar Malakar, the former Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, the workshop aimed to evaluate and enhance developmental initiatives within the district. Malakar, who attended as the chief guest, acknowledged the efforts during the nationwide Good Governance Week and reviewed crucial projects, offering insights to bolster grassroots governance.
The event saw participation from prominent officials such as Deputy Development Commissioner Sanjeev Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioners Geetashri Lachit and Jayanta Bora, along with assistant commissioners and department heads. Representatives from key sectors—Health, Agriculture, Veterinary, Cooperative Societies, and the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC)—presented their governance strategies. Malakar absorbed the updates and provided strategic recommendations to drive development in Barpeta, especially focusing on its rural areas.
A standout feature of the workshop was a video presentation that highlighted the District Administration’s governance achievements over the past two years. The video emphasized efforts in improving service delivery, enhancing transparency, and boosting public engagement.
District Commissioner Rohan Kr. Jha underscored the critical role of public grievance redressal in the event. He detailed the camps set up throughout the district to effectively and transparently address citizen issues. Jha instructed officials to maintain high service delivery standards, aiming to resolve numerous grievances during these camps.
This workshop spotlighted Barpeta’s dedication to fostering effective governance, aligning with the national objective of enhancing accountability and transparency during Good Governance Week 2024. The initiatives presented reiterate the district’s commitment to improving administrative practices and citizen engagement, marking another milestone in the Good Governance agenda.
