Unyielding Triumph: Assam Rifles’ Heroic Drug Busts Seize Heroin & Meth in Major Mizoram Crackdown

In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking in Mizoram, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Excise and Narcotics Department, successfully executed two significant operations. The first operation, based on specific intelligence, led to the recovery of 22 grams of Heroin No. 4, valued at Rs 15.40 lakh, from Champhai’s Zote area. The contraband was discovered concealed within the clothing bag of a woman, identified as 40-year-old Tlangmawii. She has been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department for further legal action.

Simultaneously, a separate operation aimed at thwarting cross-border drug trafficking resulted in a major breakthrough. Acting on credible intelligence, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Police Department in Zokhawthar, seized 22.676 kg of Methamphetamine tablets near the Balu Kai area. These tablets are estimated to be worth Rs 68.03 crore. Troops from the Combined Operation Base in Zokhawthar launched a strategic ambush in the region, which led to the recovery of the substantial narcotics consignment. According to an official press release, the joint team observed a suspect crossing the Tiau River, carrying a brown sack, which upon inspection, was found to contain the illicit drugs.

These operations underscore the relentless determination of Assam Rifles and local law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug cartels operating in the border regions. The efforts highlight their commitment to curbing the surge of illegal narcotics trafficking, thereby ensuring the safety and security of the region.
