The 17th Coimbatore Vizha concluded with a grand finale on Sunday, highlighting the city’s dedication to celebrating local contributors. Film director N. Lingusamy awarded Thangaraj, a conservancy worker, with the prestigious “Clean Covai Ambassador” title at the ceremony. The Vizha Awards, designed to acknowledge “exceptional contributions” to Coimbatore, honored 17 individuals across diverse fields such as education, cultural development, environmental conservation, public health, and community service, mirroring the event’s 17th edition.
From over 400 public nominations, a jury meticulously selected the awardees, underscoring the initiative’s commitment to community recognition. Yash Manivannan, the head of the Vizha Awards, emphasized the program’s focus on celebrating those who have played pivotal roles in shaping the city.
