Although fans hoped for a 2025 premiere, the extensive production timeline indicates a possible 2026 release, according to reports from What’s On Netflix.
Inspired by Julia Quinn’s novels, “Bridgerton,” adapted by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, has rapidly become one of Netflix’s most-viewed Originals, amassing over a billion viewing hours since its launch. With Jess Brownell assuming the role of showrunner in Season 3, she continues her leadership in Season 4 following Chris Van Dusen’s departure. Van Dusen, however, remains an executive producer.
Brownell recently commented on the lengthy production process, citing an eight-month filming period followed by crucial post-production phases such as editing, dubbing, and writing—all contributing to the series’ multi-year delivery schedule. She explained, “We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language. And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”
Exciting on-set photographs reveal the return of Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, alongside newcomer Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek. Season 4’s storyline may either follow Benedict’s journey from the third book, “An Offer from a Gentleman,” or explore Eloise’s romantic saga from the fifth book, “To Sir Phillip, With Love.”
