Triumphant Yet United: NPP’s Resounding Victory Strengthens an Unbreakable Coalition
Meghalaya Political Stability a Priority for CM Conrad Sangma
SHILLONG, Nov 27: Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has reiterated the National People’s Party’s (NPP) commitment to maintaining the current political alliance without any realignment. Sangma emphasized the party’s intent to foster long-term stability and economic growth in the state through its participation in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), which consists of multiple political entities. “There is no question of any realignment,” asserted the Chief Minister, highlighting the coalition’s shared vision of stability, trust, and confidence.
With the NPP commanding a significant majority in the 60-member legislative assembly, holding 32 seats, Sangma remains focused on cementing a cohesive front with its alliance partners. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of unity among the MDA constituents, aiming to project a positive image to the public and reinforcing their collective commitment to governance.
Addressing media inquiries about allegations of the NPP employing financial influence in the Gambegre constituency, Sangma reaffirmed the election’s narrative of development. Despite previous setbacks in Gambegre, a historically challenging constituency where the NPP failed to secure victory in four consecutive elections, the party has now made significant inroads. Sangma contended that the election results reflected an electorate yearning for substantial development after years of neglect.
Emphasizing good governance, Sangma assured that the concerns of all MLAs are given due consideration, reflecting a harmonious atmosphere within the coalition. “All MLAs are happy in the alliance and there is no pressure on me,” he stated, addressing potential internal conflicts and affirming the coalition’s stability.
Sangma’s statements signal a robust intent to uphold the MDA’s integrity and navigate any emerging challenges. His strategic leadership aims to ensure that the alliance continues to prioritize the welfare and advancement of Meghalaya’s populace.
