Punjabi music icon Diljit Dosanjh recently tackled the controversy surrounding the Telangana government’s ban on some of his songs during his vibrant concert in Hyderabad. Despite restrictions, which targeted songs with references to alcohol, drugs, and violence, Diljit delivered an unforgettable performance to a full house, blending humor and a subtle critique of the censorship.
During the concert, Diljit cleverly addressed the ban without directly naming the authorities. He remarked on the disparity between the treatment of international and local artists, saying, “When artists come to India from other countries, they are allowed to do whatever they like, sing whatever they want, koi tension nahin… But when an artist from your own country is singing, people have so many problems.” This comment threw a spotlight on the challenges he faces as a homegrown artist, with Diljit noting, “Some people cannot digest the fact that such big shows are happening, that tickets are getting sold out in 2 minutes.
