Awe-Inspiring Tribute: Amit Shah Unveils Majestic Birsa Munda Statue at Delhi’s Baansera Park
Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a statue of the esteemed tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, celebrated nationwide as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, at Baansera Park in New Delhi on November 15, 2024. This marks the beginning of a year-long celebration termed Aadiwasi Gaurav Din, in honor of Munda’s legacy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared in 2021 that this day would be eternally recognized to honor Munda, who was born in Jharkhand. Amit Shah highlighted Birsa Munda’s dedication to safeguarding tribal culture and his ultimate sacrifice for India’s freedom struggle, noting that Munda’s impactful life journey still resonates after 150 years. The 3,000 kg statue, crafted by renowned sculptors from West Bengal, vividly embodies Munda’s lively spirit. Additionally, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the renaming of the Sarai Kale Khan intersection to Bhagwan Birsa Munda Chowk as part of the commemoration.
