Ultimate Guide: Transformative CCPA Guidelines to Prevent Misleading Ads in the Coaching Industry!
NEW DELHI: In a significant move to ensure transparency and protect consumers’ rights, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued new guidelines addressing misleading advertisements in the coaching sector. Announced by Smt. Nidhi Khare, the Chief Commissioner of CCPA and Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, the ‘Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisement in Coaching Sector, 2024’ aim to shield students and the public from the deceptive marketing tactics frequently seen in coaching centers.
These guidelines were developed with the participation of various key stakeholders, including representatives from the Central Consumer Protection Authority, the Department of Personnel & Training, and the Ministry of Education, alongside special invitees from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration and the National Law University (NLU) Delhi. Additionally, insights from law firms and industry stakeholders contributed to the formulation of these comprehensive directives.
The CCPA’s initiative underscores the importance of honesty and transparency, asserting that misleading information in the education sector violates consumer rights and potentially puts students at a disadvantage. With this regulatory framework, the CCPA aims to curb unethical practices and foster a fair environment where consumers, especially students, can make informed decisions about their educational pursuits. These guidelines mark a proactive step in enhancing accountability and integrity within the coaching sector, ensuring it aligns with the broader consumer protection framework.
