Idols of Lord Vinayaka were immersed in the Cauvery river in Tiruchi on Monday amid tight security, following a grand procession. Celebrated on Vinayaka Chaturthi, over 200 idols were installed citywide on Saturday. The idols were taken from six city ranges—Cantonment, Srirangam, Fort, Thillai Nagar, K.K. Nagar, and Gandhi Market—with organizing committee members and police personnel accompanying them. Arrangements for immersion were made along the Cauvery bridge. Some idols from the outskirts of Tiruchi were also brought in for immersion. To ensure peace during the procession, security was heightened across the city, with police deployed at key junctions and sensitive areas.
