The year 2020 was particularly tumultuous for actor and model Rhea Chakraborty. With the untimely death of her boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea found herself ensnared in a highly intense media frenzy. The scrutiny culminated in her arrest in September 2020 for a drug-related case connected to Sushant’s passing, although she was released on bail in October of the same year. Following these distressing events, Rhea opted for a hiatus from the limelight to focus on her personal healing and reflection.
However, Rhea is now re-emerging with vigor. She has launched her own podcast and is participating in interviews where she candidly shares her thoughts and experiences. Recently, in an interview, the “Jalebi” actress discussed her perspectives on marriage, expressing that she’s not ready to marry yet. She questioned societal pressures that demand women marry by a certain age, unlike their male counterparts. Citing examples of her female friends who married or had children in their forties, Rhea affirmed that there’s no definitive age for marriage.
She also pointed out that if biological clocks are a concern, women can consider freezing their eggs, even though it’s a complicated process. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Rhea compared the marital satisfaction of friends who married in their 20s and 30s with those who tied the knot in their late 30s and 40s, noting that the latter seemed more content with their decisions. At 32, Rhea herself isn’t ready for marriage, focusing instead on her professional aspirations and personal goals.
She mentioned, “I don’t want to go to a court of law for one more thing. Do I take permission from there on whom to get married? I go for my passport; I don’t want to go for this. If you are in that place in your life where you’re thriving, I don’t think a man or being someone’s wife is going to fulfill it.”
Rhea was recently seen in Mumbai with Nikhil Kamath, riding pillion on his bike. Regardless of the romantic rumors, Rhea stays committed to her career and personal growth after the challenges she has faced.
