The Hindu Future India Club Inaugurated at St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam
Ernakulam: A distinguished panel of experts, including Markose Bristow (DGM, LPG sales, IOCL), Sr. Vinitha (manager, St. Teresa’s College), Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph (Principal), Dhanya K.N. (Deputy Director, FSSAI), Kala M.S. (dean, self-financed stream, St. Teresa’s College), and Suresh Kumar Pillai (DGM, The Hindu), inaugurated The Hindu Future India Club at St. Teresa’s College on Thursday, August 29.
An initiative by The Hindu Group in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), The Hindu Future India Club aims to benefit college students through various educational programs. The inaugural session featured workshops in a two-tier format focusing on LPG safety and topics beneficial to the target audience.
Attended by approximately 250 students from Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Processing Technology, and Home Science, the workshops offered substantial insights into LPG safety and food safety standards. Dhanya K.N. and Hema Persis from FSSAI led an informative session covering the department’s various rules, regulations, and services, including licensing, food product standards, labeling, and display requirements. They also highlighted FSSAI’s campaigns like Eat Right India, encouraging students to engage with departmental activities and access resources on the FSSAI website.
Earlier, Markose Bristow and his team from IOCL conducted a session on essential LPG safety practices, including proper storage, handling, and use of LPG cylinders. The workshop also introduced students to composite cylinders, showcasing them as a safer alternative to conventional options.
Sr. Vinitha delivered the presidential address, and Principal Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph also spoke to the gathering, reinforcing the importance of the initiative. This program will extend to 10 colleges across Ernakulam in the upcoming months, continuing the mission to educate and uplift students with critical safety knowledge and professional skills.
