Veteran actress Meenakshi Seshadri recently shared insights on why male actors tend to have longer careers in the film industry. Speaking with Lehren Retro, she highlighted the enduring superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Jeetendra, noting their ability to focus solely on their careers without the burdens of domestic duties and family responsibilities that typically fall on women. This freedom, she believes, allows male actors to remain in the industry longer. Additionally, Meenakshi emphasized the ongoing public appeal of these male stars as a crucial factor in their prolonged stardom.

Meenakshi Seshadri made her Hindi film debut in the 1980s, working with notable icons such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, and Anil Kapoor. Despite her illustrious career, she stepped away from the limelight in 1996 to prioritize her personal life and moved to the USA. However, she is now poised for a comeback and expressed curiosity about the roles that might come her way. In an interview with ETimes, Meenakshi reflected on how contemporary filmmakers might perceive her current artistic expression before casting her in new projects.

Her career began with the film “Painter Babu” in 1983, and she quickly rose to fame with her second film “Hero” the same year. Meenakshi became one of the most popular actresses through the 80s and 90s, known for her remarkable acting abilities and striking looks. She enjoyed a loyal fan following and significantly contributed to Hindi cinema, along with notable work in South Indian films. Following her hiatus, she made a guest appearance in “Swami Vivekananda” (1998) and “Ghayal: Once Again” (2016). Now, after nearly 27 years, Meenakshi is eager for a new chapter in her acting career.
