
Heartwarming Triumph: IPS Indrani Baruah Receives Prestigious Award for Championing Child-Friendly Policing Practices
GUWAHATI: Indrani Baruah, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CWR) in Assam, was honored with the Jury’s Choice Award for her exceptional leadership in advancing child-friendly policing practices. The accolade was part of the 2nd edition of the Sishu Mitra Champion Awards, an event organized by the Assam Police to celebrate officers dedicated to child welfare.
During the ceremony, Assam’s Director General of Police, GP Singh, presented awards across four categories to 26 officers from various regions of the state. The awards are designed to recognize and motivate police officers’ efforts in handling child-related cases effectively.
In addition to the police officers, special recognitions were given to the Superintendent of Guwahati Medical College Hospital, the Nodal Officer for the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Special Public Prosecutor of the Kamrup Metro Special POCSO Court for their significant contributions to enhancing children’s rights.
The Annual Assam Police Sishu Mitra Champion Awards are part of the broader Assam Police Sishu Mitra Programme, one of India’s most comprehensive child-friendly policing initiatives. This program, conducted in partnership with UNICEF and UTSAH Child Rights Org, signifies a robust commitment to protecting and advocating for children’s rights.
