Victory Tour: Sangma Brothers Triumph in Arunachal as Conrad Celebrates NPP’s Stunning Election Win
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced on July 20 that over 500 stranded citizens have successfully returned to Meghalaya after crossing the Bangladesh border via Dawki and Tripura. Most evacuees are students from Meghalaya, but the group also includes individuals from other parts of India and neighboring countries such as Nepal and Bhutan.
Speaking to the media in Itanagar, Sangma credited the successful evacuation to the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies. “The Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the Ministry of External Affairs, exporters, and district administrations in border towns played crucial roles in ensuring our citizens’ safety,” he stated.
During his two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Sangma and his brother James, celebrated the National People’s Party’s (NPP) performance in the recent assembly elections. As NPP President, Conrad Sangma honored the five victorious NPP MLAs, noting that the party has become the second-largest in Arunachal Pradesh with a 21% vote share across all 60 seats.
“Our party’s emergence as a significant force in Arunachal Pradesh is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our candidates and supporters,” Sangma remarked.
Through a combination of crisis management and electoral success, Conrad Sangma’s leadership appears to be gaining ground, both in emergency response and political influence in the Northeast.
