NATIONAL NEWS ALERT: Huge Cache of Arms Recovered from Slain Terrorists in J&K’s Keran Sector
Srinagar, July 19: The Indian Army has recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including an Austrian-made Steyr AUG bullpup assault rifle, from two slain foreign terrorists in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The Army disclosed on Friday that the recovered arsenal also comprised an AK series rifle, five grenades, and various other materials.
The neutralization of these terrorists occurred on Thursday during a joint operation by the Army and the J&K Police, which successfully thwarted an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector.
This incident follows a similar anti-infiltration effort in the Karnah sector of Kupwara on July 15, where the Army killed three terrorists. In response to these events, security forces are maintaining a heightened state of alert across the region, especially in light of recent terrorist activities in the Jammu division.
In a high-level security review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, the PM called for increased deployment of the Army and security forces in the Jammu division to tackle militancy and ensure peace. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval, who support the initiative for bolstered security measures.
The ongoing operations underscore the commitment of Indian security forces to safeguard the region from terrorist threats and maintain stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
