Kargil Vijay Diwas 2024: General Anil Chauhan Emphasizes Robust Defence Strategy and Integration of Armed Forces
New Delhi: On the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan underscored the importance of a robust and responsive defence strategy. Speaking at an event in New Delhi’s Le Meridien Hotel on July 18, 2024, General Chauhan highlighted the Kargil War’s lessons on vigilance, preparedness, and the efficacious use of public and international diplomacy.
“The Kargil conflict demonstrated the necessity of maintaining continuous vigilance and readiness to protect our borders. Acknowledging the Kargil War as India’s first televised conflict, General Chauhan pointed out the emergence of the ‘Information domain’ as a crucial battleground where narratives are constantly shaped. He commemorated the war for epitomizing the resoluteness, courage, and determination of India’s Armed Forces, urging the nation to focus on future threats and challenges.
General Chauhan highlighted multiple initiatives aimed at maintaining a tactical edge over adversaries. He praised the Indian Defence Industry for its support and acknowledged the significant contributions and sacrifices of Veterans and Veer Naris during the war.
