YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Mahila wing president and MLC Varudu Kalyani has criticized the NDA government for failing to address the rising crimes against women and children in the State. During a press conference in Visakhapatnam on July 17, Ms. Kalyani accused the ruling alliance of focusing on demolishing properties belonging to YSRCP leaders rather than ensuring public safety. She highlighted that despite the Home Minister’s promises to eradicate ganja and protect women, no substantial actions have been taken. Ms. Kalyani pointed out that the Home Minister has not even met the victims or provided compensation to affected families.
She emphasized that during the YSRCP administration, initiatives such as the Disha app, 18 Disha police stations, fast-track courts, POCSO courts, and the deployment of 3,000 vehicles played crucial roles in safeguarding women. However, since the NDA government sidelined the Disha app, there has been a noticeable increase in crimes against women, she alleged.
