In Hyderabad, Congress leaders and workers marked the launch of the crop loan waiver scheme with a grand celebration at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday. The event featured a ‘Palabhishekham’ ritual performed in honor of a cut-out of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Prominent leaders, including TPCC Campaign Committee chairman and former MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud and Telangana in-charge Deepa Dasmunshi, were in attendance. Speaking to the media, Mr. Goud highlighted the significance of the ₹31,000 crore loan waiver aimed at alleviating debts up to ₹2 lakh for farmers, deeming it a landmark achievement. “July 18 will be etched in the memories of Telangana’s farmers. Despite severe financial constraints, the Congress government under Revanth Reddy is fulfilling its promises,” he stated.
Mr. Goud also criticized the previous BRS government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not waiving ₹28,000 crore in loans and contended that the Kaleshwaram project had not yielded benefits for farmers. He encouraged farmers across the state to commemorate this historic event.
In Nalgonda, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy characterized the initiative as the country’s second-largest loan waiver, trailing only the one by the Manmohan Singh government. He detailed various development projects in the region, noting that funds had been allocated for the SLBC and Brahmanavellamla projects through a green channel and assured that work on the Dindi project would be completed soon.
The celebration extended to other regions as well. Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy took part in festivities at Gangugapadu village in Jangaon district, while Palakurthy MLA M Yashwaswini Reddy joined the events at the Rythu Vedika in Matedu village, Thorrur mandal of Mahabubabad district.
The Congress leaders’ enthusiastic participation underlined the importance of the loan waiver scheme and the commitment to delivering on their promises.
