Samsung Unveils Revolutionary Bixby Upgrade – Experience the Power of AI This Year!
At the recent Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, TM Roh, head of Samsung’s mobile division, revealed that Samsung will launch an upgraded version of its voice assistant, Bixby, later this year. This new iteration will be powered by Samsung’s proprietary large language models (LLM) based on generative AI technology.
Digital assistants have regained attention due to the popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Roh confirmed that the enhanced Bixby aims to leverage Generation AI to provide advanced capabilities. Initially introduced with the Galaxy S8 in 2017, Bixby already offers features such as live translations and restaurant recommendations. Its Bixby Vision tool uses the phone’s camera to provide information about scanned objects.
This announcement marks the first confirmation of a launch timeline for the upgraded Bixby. Despite the advancements, Samsung will continue to support multiple voice assistants on its devices, including Google’s AI assistant.
Roh’s announcement closely follows Apple’s recent reveal that Siri will also receive an AI upgrade, incorporating capabilities from OpenAI’s ChatGPT for more sophisticated query responses.
Samsung’s refreshed Bixby is part of a broader initiative to integrate more artificial intelligence features across its product line. At the event, the company also introduced two new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, alongside other new AI tools intended to drive consumers toward premium devices.
“We are reinforcing and bringing more AI capabilities to our products,” Roh stated. “As consumers use more AI capabilities, they can feel the convenience and benefits they bring. I believe strongly that these Galaxy AI, mobile AI are strong motivations and drivers for the purchase of new products.”
Samsung’s strategic emphasis on AI underscores its commitment to maintaining competitive innovation in the rapidly evolving mobile technology sector.
