Mumbai, Aug 29 — Singer-composer Vishal Mishra has pledged to hold benefit concerts in Assam and Nepal, saying every penny raised will go to flood relief and to support affected communities. Mishra announced the plan on Instagram and said a formal announcement with details will follow soon.
“My heart is heavy seeing what’s happening. So I have made a decision. I WILL PERFORM A CONCERT IN #NEPAL AND A CONCERT IN #ASSAM. EVERY SINGLE PENNY. WILL GO TOWARDS FLOOD RELIEF AND THE PEOPLE AFFECTED. I GIVE YOU MY WORD. Announcement soon,” he wrote in the post.
He added in the post caption: “Stay strong, will do whatever I can individually, Har Har Mahadev.”
The pledge comes amid severe flooding in the region. Assam has been coping with devastating floods that began on July 19, 2026, after an earlier spell of intense rain around June 28, 2026; a second, heavier phase of monsoonal downpours and upstream cloudbursts on July 19 deepened the crisis and submerged villages later in July. Nepal suffered catastrophic flash floods on August 26, 2026; Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said 579 bodies had been recovered and 1,924 people remained out of contact as of Friday evening (Aug 28, 2026), according to the report cited in the announcement.
Mishra first appeared on a reality show aired on DD National and later auditioned for Indian Idol, from which he was disqualified. The 35-year-old made his composing debut in 2016 with the Tamil film Devi and has since written and performed several popular tracks. His credits include the 2017 song “Jaane De,” sung by Atif Aslam for the Qarib Qarib Singlle soundtrack, compositions for Munna Michael (which marked his singing debut) and the Marathi film FU: Friendship Unlimited, the 2018 melody “Rafta Rafta” for Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se (featuring Salman Khan in the video), the romantic track “Selfish” for Race 3, and the title song of Veere Di Wedding.
Mishra’s pledge to donate all proceeds from concerts in Assam and Nepal signals a direct, artist-led relief effort aimed at raising funds and attention for communities hit by the monsoon-related disasters; he reiterated that full details and dates will be shared in an official announcement soon.
