Urgent West Tripura District Meeting Strengthens Mission AIDS Suraksha
Agartala, June 25, 2026 — A district-level meeting on Mission AIDS Suraksha (MAS) was held today at the Conference Hall of the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector, West Tripura. The session was chaired by Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS, Chairperson of the District Health & Family Welfare Society and District Magistrate and Collector, West Tripura, and focused on strengthening the district’s response to HIV/AIDS through enhanced awareness, prevention, treatment and support services.
Officials from the Health Department, Education Department, Social Education Department, medical officers, Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) centres, NTCP representatives, and NGOs working with the Tripura State AIDS Control Society (TSACS) and the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) attended the meeting, along with other key stakeholders. Participants reviewed current outreach and service-delivery efforts and discussed gaps that need urgent attention.
Deliberations emphasized the need for improved inter-departmental coordination to ensure the effective rollout of Mission AIDS Suraksha across the district. Speakers underlined that coordinated action between health, education and social services is essential to reach vulnerable populations and to scale up prevention and treatment programs.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to intensify grassroots campaigns, expand access to healthcare facilities, and provide comprehensive support to affected individuals. The meeting ended with a collective resolve to make West Tripura’s fight against HIV/AIDS more robust, inclusive and sustainable.
