CUET-UG 2026: 11.6 Lakh Appeared; Student Scores 100th Percentile in 4
New Delhi, June 23: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday declared results for the Common University Entrance Test‑Undergraduate (CUET‑UG) 2026, saying 1,164,098 candidates appeared in the national-level examination for admission to undergraduate programmes for the 2026–27 session.
According to the NTA, 22 candidates scored a 100 percentile in three subjects, 180 candidates achieved 100 percentile in two subjects, and 3,214 candidates secured 100 percentile in one subject. “One candidate achieved a 100 percentile score in four out of the five subjects opted for in CUET‑UG 2026, recording the best performance in the examination,” the agency said in a statement.
The results were prepared on the basis of final answer keys vetted by subject experts, the NTA said. The agency added that the result declaration timeline had been shortened this year. “The result declaration timeline is substantially streamlined, enabling the declaration of results within 16 days of the examination’s completion, representing a reduction of 14 days compared to the previous cycle,” the statement said.
The testing agency also released a gender-wise list of the top 10 candidates based on aggregate NTA scores across five subjects. The highest-scoring female candidate obtained 1,232.19 marks, narrowly ahead of the top male candidate, who scored 1,230.82. The second and third highest female scores were 1,203.78 and 1,202.15, while the corresponding male scores were 1,207.21 and 1,205.96.
The NTA said 1,568,867 unique candidates had registered for CUET‑UG 2026, of whom 1,164,098 appeared. Of those registered, 794,257 were male, 774,607 female and three identified as third gender. Among those who appeared, 578,500 were male, 585,596 female and two were third gender. Category-wise registrations included 686,419 General, 528,838 OBC (Non‑Creamy Layer), 171,397 Scheduled Caste, 95,464 Scheduled Tribe and 86,749 Economically Weaker Section candidates.
CUET‑UG 2026 was conducted in computer‑based test (CBT) mode across 321 examination cities, including 13 centres outside India. Candidates could choose up to five subjects from 37 options — 13 languages, 23 domain‑specific subjects and one General Aptitude Test — with the tests held from May 11 to May 31 and again on June 6 and 7. Scorecards are available for download from the official CUET website using the application number and password.
