The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for Class 12 students seeking scanned copies, verification or re-evaluation of their answer sheets by one day — from June 6 to midnight of June 7, the Board said. The move, announced by CBSE officials, aims to help students who faced technical problems accessing the portal and to manage a surge in applications after results were declared.
Students must first apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets; only after receiving those scans can they request verification of marks or re-evaluation of specific answers. The post-result service is intended to ensure transparency and give students confidence in the assessment process. CBSE this year rolled out On-Screen Marking on a larger scale to reduce human error and speed up evaluation, but several candidates reported blurred scans and missing markings, prompting a large number of re-evaluation requests.
More than 70,000 applications have already been filed, underlining the demand for the service and the importance of the extension. The Board has revised the fee structure: a nominal charge applies for verification and a per-question fee for re-evaluation. CBSE warned that marks awarded after re-evaluation will be final and binding, with no further appeal permitted.
To assist students and parents, CBSE has activated its helpline to resolve queries and smooth the application process. The Board has urged candidates to submit their requests before the new deadline of midnight on June 7.
With class 12 results influencing higher-education admissions, the outcomes of re-evaluation — expected by July — will be closely watched. The extension is both a practical accommodation and a reassurance from CBSE that student concerns about the new digital evaluation system are being addressed, as the Board works to restore confidence in fairness and transparency.
