CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets VP, Seeks Vital Support for Viksit Assam
GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan at the VP Enclave in New Delhi on Monday, June 1, 2026, to brief him on the state’s ongoing development initiatives and future growth plans and to seek his guidance on achieving a “Viksit Assam.”
Sharing details of the meeting on X, Sarma said he discussed Assam’s progress across sectors and asked for the Vice President’s continued support. “Honoured to call upon Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri @CPR_VP ji today to brief him on the Assam growth story,” the Chief Minister wrote.
Sarma lauded Radhakrishnan for his dedication to public service, describing their interaction as insightful and inspiring and calling the meeting a valuable learning experience. He said the exchange reinforced Assam’s commitment to accelerating its development agenda.
The Chief Minister highlighted priorities such as sustained economic growth, infrastructure expansion and reforms in social sectors as central to the state’s roadmap. According to Sarma, these measures form part of long-term efforts to transform Assam into a major growth hub in India’s Northeast.
