The Tripura State Election Commission has begun preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections following the completion of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls, officials said, with electoral groundwork and verification already under way across the state. The Commission has set firm dates for the next steps in the electoral roll process and has finalised polling-station locations ahead of the vote for 587 Village Committees and 5,873 seats.
State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen said the process has moved into the next phase and that the Commission started preparations immediately after the TTAADC elections to ensure the Village Committee polls are held on schedule. He emphasised that administrative verification of local arrangements was being carried out across Tripura’s blocks.
A notification issued on May 9 listed the draft and final polling-station arrangements. After verification by administrative blocks, a total of 1,550 polling stations have been finalised to serve voters across the state.
The electoral roll revision is in progress: the draft electoral roll is scheduled for publication on June 2, followed by a claims-and-objections window from June 2 to June 9, during which voters can seek corrections or raise concerns about entries. The Commission plans to publish the final electoral roll on June 15.
The scale of the exercise is significant: elections will be held for 587 Village Committees comprising 5,873 seats, requiring coordinated logistics, staffing and voter outreach by the election authority and local administrations.
The State Election Commission said it will announce the full election schedule and other operational details after completing the electoral roll revision process.
