Assam Rifles’ Inspiring Tinsukia Tree Plantation — 150 Join
Assam Rifles organised a tree-plantation drive at Jagun in Assam’s Tinsukia district on June 1, planting saplings across the locality to promote environmental awareness and conservation. The programme brought together Assam Rifles personnel and local residents in a coordinated effort to enhance green cover and encourage ecological stewardship.
A total of 150 people took part in the initiative, including ex-servicemen, officials from the Forest Department, members of the Assam Gorkha Students Union, school students and other community members. Participants worked together to plant saplings in and around Jagun, underscoring the event’s focus on protecting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance.
Organisers emphasised collective responsibility for a greener, healthier environment and used the drive to spread practical awareness about conservation. The initiative received wide appreciation from local residents and organisers said it helped strengthen civil-military relations in the region. Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to community welfare and environmental conservation through such outreach programmes.
