Quad Ministers LIVE: Indo-Pacific Surveillance & Critical Minerals
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Quad has spent the past year shifting from a forum for discussion to a platform for concrete action, and that the group is now moving aggressively to put plans into practice. Addressing the gathering, Rubio said the collective goal has been to transform the Quad into “a space where they actually do something about” the region’s challenges.
“We are beginning to do that very aggressively and very impressively,” Rubio said, underscoring the pace and visibility of recent efforts. He said the areas in which the four countries are cooperating have grown more relevant in light of unfolding events around the world.
Rubio urged further progress on operationalizing the partnership, stressing the need to move beyond high-level commitments to practical collaboration. He highlighted the importance of identifying concrete areas where the four governments can work together to deliver results.
Concluding his remarks, Rubio noted that each Quad member brings unique capabilities that, when combined, can be applied to some of the world’s most significant problems. He framed the grouping’s evolving work as increasingly action-oriented and responsive to global developments.
