GUWAHATI — Soon after his election as leader of the BJP Legislature Party (BJPLP) and the NDA in Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma pledged that the BJP would work “tirelessly in the coming five years” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with the party’s “core objective” focused on the holistic development of Assam.
Addressing party workers, Dr Sarma thanked voters for reposing faith in the BJP-led NDA and said the mandate signalled public confidence in the development agenda pursued by the central and state leadership. He said the government would continue to prioritise peace, development and prosperity across the state. “Our core objective will remain the holistic development of Assam,” he said.
Describing the recent victory as a reflection of popular trust, Dr Sarma said the people’s “blessings” followed the government’s committed work for welfare and development. “After discussing various issues, we have once again received the blessings of the people. The government has worked with commitment and dedication for the welfare and development of Assam. The people have blessed us for taking the state forward on the path of progress,” he said.
Dr Sarma also credited the BJP-led administration with transforming Assam through sustained development initiatives and improved governance in recent years. He added that the electorate had rewarded the government for delivering rapid development and stability and reassured citizens that, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the state government would continue to pursue policies aimed at furthering Assam’s progress.
