Surge in Attendance at Gangtok Mental Health Workshop’s Second Session

Let’s Talk Mental Health Foundation held the second session of its workshop, “Reconnect with Yourself,” at Somani Wellness Clinic in Gangtok, a report published May 4, 2026 (last updated May 3, 2026) says, with organisers noting higher attendance and stronger participant engagement than the inaugural meeting. The foundation said the series aims to provide a safe, recurring forum for people to discuss everyday stress, coping strategies and self-acceptance.

Co-founder Bhawani Lamichaney opened the session by outlining the initiative’s objectives and announcing that the workshop will now take place every Sunday, creating a regular community space for ongoing peer support and learning. Organisers framed the meetings as low-barrier opportunities for attendees to share experiences and learn practical stress-management techniques.

The workshop followed a similar format to the first session, centring on a sharing circle where participants voiced personal stories and exchanged perspectives on mental health, stress triggers and coping mechanisms. The dialogue emphasized normalising emotional struggles and encouraging mutual listening and respect.

In the latter half, resource person Arenlila Jamir, a faculty member at Sikkim Manipal University, led an interactive exercise inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi-repairing broken pottery with gold-as a metaphor for healing. Participants wrote negative emotions on paper, tore them up, and then reassembled the pieces with colorful tape to symbolise resilience and finding beauty in imperfection.

The session closed with a guided meditation led by Lamichaney and brief remarks on practical stress-management steps. Organisers also announced plans to launch a counselling clinic at Somani Wellness Clinic in the near future, aimed at providing more structured mental-health support to the community.
