IOCL Assures No LPG Shortage: Avoid Panic Booking Now

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Monday told the public in Aizawl that domestic LPG supplies remain stable despite recent geopolitical disruptions to global energy markets, assuring uninterrupted deliveries and urging consumers not to resort to panic bookings. Speaking at a press conference, Sales Manager (Aizawl-II) Diganta Chaudhury said the corporation is prioritising domestic requirements and closely monitoring the supply chain to ensure timely refills.

Chaudhury said Indian Oil currently supplies LPG to about 2.97 lakh households in Mizoram, with roughly 8,000 cylinders delivered daily — figures he described as consistent with pre-crisis levels. To support local businesses, commercial LPG allocation has been raised to nearly 70% of pre-crisis volumes.

Officials encouraged consumers to use digital booking channels such as SMS and IVRS to streamline refill requests; about 25,000 bookings are currently being received through these platforms. The corporation has also rolled out Delivery Authentication Codes (DAC-OTP) to verify genuine recipients at the point of delivery and reduce fraud.

In coordination with the state government, Indian Oil said it has intensified efforts to curb black marketing and hoarding. Multiple teams are carrying out surprise inspections of LPG distributorships, while data-analytics tools are being used to monitor performance and flag irregularities. Several raids have been conducted and strict action is being taken against distributors found violating norms, the officials added.

Reiterating that there is no shortage of LPG, Indian Oil advised against unnecessary queuing or stockpiling. “Supply remains normal and stable. There is no need for panic booking,” officials said. The corporation has also doubled allocations of 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders to assist migrant labourers and other vulnerable groups, and pledged to maintain transparent distribution and uninterrupted supply.
