CJI Surya Kant to Lead Landmark Judicial Tech Meet in Sikkim, May 1–2
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant will visit Sikkim on May 1 and 2, 2026, to participate in a national conference on technology and judicial education in Gangtok, an official statement issued on April 20, 2026 said. The High Court of Sikkim is organising the event, and judges from the Supreme Court and several high courts are expected to attend, underscoring the conference’s national significance.
The two-day meeting will focus on the use of technology in courts and on judicial education-training and capacity-building for judges and court staff-to strengthen the judiciary’s functioning. Organisers have described the gathering as a forum for sharing best practices and discussing technological solutions for case management and court administration.
Ahead of the visit, a high-level coordination meeting was held at the state secretariat under Chief Secretary R. Telang. Officials reviewed arrangements covering security, transport, accommodation, protocol and venue preparedness to ensure the delegation’s movements and the conference run smoothly.
Authorities emphasised close coordination across government departments to manage logistics and security given the presence of senior judicial dignitaries. The visit and conference are expected to bring national judicial leaders to Gangtok and spotlight Sikkim’s role in conversations on court technology and judicial training.
