Outrage in Visakhapatnam: YSR Statue Vandalized by Miscreants Sparks Public Fury
In a shocking incident on September 2, 2024, a statue of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was vandalized at Akkayyapalem in Visakhapatnam. Unidentified miscreants dismantled and beheaded the statue, causing tensions on the former CM’s death anniversary, a day observed by YSR Congress leaders and activists statewide.
Senior YSRCP leader and deputy mayor K. Satish, who also serves as the corporator of GVMC’s 46th ward, expressed outrage over the incident and confirmed plans to lodge a formal complaint with the Fourth Town Police station. “We have obtained CCTV footage capturing the act at approximately 12:55 a.m. on September 2. We suspect individuals affiliated with the ruling parties might be involved,” Satish told The Hindu.
