PM Modi Shares Incredible West Bengal Rally Video — Electrifying Scene
New Delhi, April 11 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared a video on Instagram showing large, heat-pressed crowds gathered near a helipad in West Bengal and described the mood as highly enthusiastic ahead of the state Assembly elections. In the caption, he wrote: “It’s about to be noon. Scorching heat. But the enthusiasm of West Bengal is at its peak across the state.”
In the video, Mr. Modi tells viewers: “My dear countrymen, you can see behind me the mood of West Bengal. Right now, the time is around 11:30 AM, and this is my first rally of the day.” He adds that “at the helipad itself, young people, sisters, and mothers have gathered in large numbers,” calling the scene “truly incredible,” before saying he had to leave to address the rally.
Speaking later at a campaign event in East Burdwan district, the Prime Minister said the scale of crowds at his West Bengal rallies this season had not been seen even in his home state of Gujarat at the same hour. “Even in Gujarat, I could not have arranged such a rally at this time of 12 noon, even if I wanted to. You hold amazing gatherings here every time. I am impressed,” he said, and signalled confidence that “changes are coming in this state after May 4.”
Mr. Modi described the energetic gatherings as “the trailers of what is going to happen on May 4.” The two-phase Assembly polls in West Bengal are scheduled for April 23 and April 29, with results due on May 4.
If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms the government, the Prime Minister promised the new administration would publish a White Paper documenting alleged corruption during the past 15 years under the Trinamool Congress. He said the Trinamool Congress was “already in panic mode” and rejected its claim that welfare schemes would be discontinued under a BJP government, pledging: “I guarantee that not a single welfare scheme will be discontinued. Only the shops of corruption and loot of the Trinamool Congress leaders will be closed down.”
Mr. Modi also pledged that the first Cabinet led by a BJP chief minister in West Bengal would pass a resolution to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme in the state, accusing the current Trinamool regime of long denying its benefits. He further said a BJP government would take action against “infiltrators” and those who assisted them with fake identity documents.
