NSS to Boost Youth Engagement in Meghalaya: New Empowerment Drive
Shillong: The National Service Scheme (NSS) on Friday said it will intensify measures to boost youth engagement in developmental activities across Meghalaya, the organisation said in a statement. The move aims to deepen student and volunteer participation in community development and nation‑building initiatives across the state.
The announcement followed an interaction and review meeting of NSS functionaries at North‑Eastern Hill University (NEHU), chaired by Nitesh Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary in the Department of Youth Affairs. The session reviewed ongoing NSS programmes in Meghalaya and discussed operational and implementation strategies to widen outreach and improve the effectiveness of volunteer activities.
Mishra praised the dedicated efforts of NSS units in the state and urged volunteers to continue serving communities with discipline, commitment and leadership. He emphasised strengthening institutional support and practical training to make youth participation more sustained and impactful.
During the programme, Mishra formally released posters for the MY Bharat Budget Quest, signalling the launch of intensified outreach and publicity in Meghalaya. The campaign is expected to involve local NSS units in promoting awareness and participation among young people across colleges and communities.
