Urgent Plea: Elevate Neredmet Railway Station to Empower Our Community!
The Suburban Train Travellers Association is urging South Central Railway (SCR) authorities to enhance the Neredmet railway station, allowing mainline trains to make stops there. The association highlights that Neredmet is well-connected by robust road infrastructure and is in proximity to adequate public transport facilities, making it a viable option for train stoppages.
General Secretary Noor Ahmed Ali pointed out recent strategic changes in train operations, including the redirection of several mainline services to the newly built Cherlapalli station. Additionally, trains that traditionally traveled from Kazipet and Nalgonda towards Nizamabad have been rerouted via the R.K. Nagar station, where future stoppages for all trains are anticipated once complete platforms are installed. These adjustments primarily serve the local suburban train network, according to Ali.
However, this shift has raised concerns among commuters due to the lack of adequate facilities along certain stretches. For example, many trains originating from Vikarabad and heading towards Kazipet and Nalgonda are now utilizing the Sanathnagar–Ghatkesar bypass line, which lacks a station capable of accommodating 24-coach trains. Ali emphasized that this limitation has resulted in significant inconvenience for passengers, forcing them to travel longer distances to either Cherlapalli or Lingampalli to board or alight from long-distance trains.
In addition to advocating for changes at Neredmet, Ali has also called on railway authorities to facilitate stoppages for all express trains at Malkajgiri railway station. He underscored the strategic importance of Malkajgiri, particularly given its heavy passenger traffic. The appeal aligns with the association’s ongoing efforts to improve commuter access and ease travel frustrations in the region.
As the demand for efficient suburban and long-distance train services grows, the association’s requests reflect a broader need for infrastructure upgrades to accommodate evolving transit patterns in Hyderabad. The push for improved facilities at Neredmet and Malkajgiri aims not only to enhance commuter convenience but also to align the rail network with the increasing population and travel needs of the area.
The Suburban Train Travellers Association continues to engage with SCR to advocate for these necessary changes, highlighting the importance of responsive transport services for local residents. With the continued expansion of Hyderabad’s urban landscape, the call for improved railway service remains a vital issue for many commuters in the region. As SCR considers these requests, the focus will be on creating a more efficient and accessible train travel experience for all.
