This marks Sheikh Mohamed’s third official visit to India since he took office and his fifth visit in the last decade. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that bilateral trade and personal connections between India and the UAE have surged since the two nations ratified a comprehensive economic partnership agreement in 2022. The upcoming visit aims to build on the momentum created by high-level exchanges in recent months.
Recent visits from UAE officials, including Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September 2024 and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister in April 2023, have further fortified ties.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the multifaceted relationship between India and the UAE, characterized by strong political, cultural, and economic connections. Both nations rank among each other’s top trading partners, supported by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, a local currency settlement system, and a bilateral investment treaty. A robust energy partnership also exists, underpinned by long-term energy supply arrangements.
The visit is expected to allow the two leaders to explore new opportunities within the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership while facilitating discussions on regional and global issues of shared interest, where both countries demonstrate significant alignment.
